"I'd like to share a special "thanks" to the Paradise Republican Women's Club for their generosity and consideration of our Military Families, especially our Arizona military.

Since the Arizona Coalition for Military Families was established late last year, we've seen in influx of support from our community, particularly for our Reserve components within our great State.  With approximately 50% of our fighting forces in Iraq and Afghanistan coming from our National Guardsmen and Reservists, the need is acute and timing is critical.

The protection of Freedom here on our shores creates a multitude of "nooks and crannies" of need and opportunities for support.  Thank you to the Paradise Republican Women's Club for their timely and direct support to our Military Families as the "fight for Freedom" marches on.

"I have been a student of and grew up in a world  of politics.  I have watched the transformation from a single philosophical party to divided, hyphenated conservation factions.  The party has become splintered with little leadership.

One thing about Republicans is our passion towards our beliefs.  We feel passionate about issues and our philosophy.  Therein lies the problem and the solution.

I saw a headline in the Arizona Capital Times:  "Immigration to determine next Governor."  The problem is that issues divide us into groups and drives potential supporters away.  The solution is to define our party in philosophical terms which few can argue against.  Our philosophy of limited government, less taxes, fewer regulations, personal responsibility and peace through strength opens the party to all.  Let us, if we are too win, unite behind our core beliefs."

"It was a pleasure to speak to such an engaged and focused group of Republican women.  We know that Republican principles apply and work best at all levels of government and that with local municipalities, such as Scottsdale, the style, methods and approach to taxing and providing city services matter a great deal to constituent taxpayers.  The developments on our national political scene endanger our social and economic freedoms, and the very fabric of our Country.  My message is simply in holding government accountable to; the Constitution, an open process, the citizens and the effective use of their tax resources, we will be a government "of the people, by the people, for the people."  With an educated confidence in our principles, the character of our candidates' and holding to our true and basic principles of freedom  from  any form of tyranny, we can do better and will do better in 2010."

"The members of the Paradise Republican Women's Club are activists, volunteers, donors and office holders who know that the contest for liberty isn't just every other November, it is every single day.  You also know the contest for liberty isn't just in Washington, D.C., it is right here at home.  One of the great insights of the Founding Fathers was that we should keep government as close to us as possible so that we could keep an eye on it, but with thousands of new bills introduced every year across our state and  local governments, it's nearly impossible for any of us to keep up.  How can we control our government when we can't even keep track of its activities?  That's why we have the Goldwater Institute.  It's our job to know where and when our liberties are threatened and to do something about it.  What we do in this state - saying no to mandates imposed by Washington - can help protect our freedoms and lead the way for other states to follow suit.  We are thankful for your support and look forward to partnering with PRWC to ensure a free and prosperous future for Arizona."

"It was such a thrill to be able to address the Paradise Republican Women's Club to see one strong club form out of a few others in days gone by and to have such a big group here today.  My message is simply this - rumors of the demise of the Republican Party are greatly exaggerated but we have to get to work.  It is important within the Club and within Republican ranks to work but one thing I would appeal to you to do is to apply to work within your voting precinct on election day.  ACORN is getting $8 billion from the Obama gang, they are taking Cook County, Illinois, Democrat politics and all the intended corruption and problems and payoffs and taking it nationwide.  It it ain't nailed down they will try to steal it.  The best way we can insure ballot integrity is for good Republicans to step up, not only as part of the campaign process, but as part of the election process.  Be the Republican representative on election day.  Get involved and with your help we will have a great year in 2010.

"I  am proud to be a Men's Auxiliary Member, and have always enjoyed speaking at Paradise Republican Women's Club, especially the Christmas that I got to fill in for the bass in the singing group when he went to pick up music.  In addition to working hard to bring academic rigor to our classrooms, I have viewed it as part of my job to save taxpayer money by fighting out of control federal judges who want to dictate how much we spend.  If I run for attorney general and am elected in 2010, never again will the attorney general take the side of the plaintiff against the taxpayers, as has been happening in the Flores case with the Democratic incumbent."

"Arizona is on the front line in the national political debate because we have the greatest opportunity ever to take back Congress since 1994.  In many ways this is the '94 cycle all over again.  Back in '92 you had a president who said I feel your pain and after a few years everyone said we want it fixed...we don't want to feel it anymore.  Now we have a president who says hope and change...and everyone will say that isn't the change I wanted...I want more than just change in my pocket.  I want this problem fixed.

Arizona is on the front lines.  We have the opportunity as we have never had before to take back our state and grow our margins.  Right here we have to win districts back in Arizona if we have any of hope of taking back  Congress.  We have the best opportunity we are ever going to have not only to affect change in Arizona but to affect change for the whole nation and the whole world.  We are at a crossroads.  What type of economic system are we going to have?  This is the decision that is going to be made in the next  year and we have an opportunity to impact that decision.  Arizona normally does not have that opportunity.  This is a great time to get involved."

"It was a great pleasure to speak to the Paradise Republican Women.  I share your commitment to protecting the public  and making sure our community can be a safe place for all of us to live in.  I am also delighted to be  able to serve along side Sheriff Arpaio and to work with him in fighting illegal immigration.  My thanks go out to everyone who helped to re-elect the Sheriff and me last year.  I look forward to continuing to serve the public and doing my best to keep the community safe."

"It is not business as usual at the State Legislature.  We are facing the worst budget deficit in the State's history, and as a percentage, it  is worse than any state  in the nation.  However, the current budget crisis provides an opportunity to examine and improve the state's financial management.  As Republicans, we will make every effort to avoid gimmickry that simply kicks the problem  into the next budget or even the next Legislature.  We need to scrutinize many assumptions that automatically become part of the state budget.  Inflation adjustments, for example, can play an important role in maintaining specified government service levels.

But protection from the impact of inflation is not guaranteed for Arizona taxpayers and citizens.  Something is terribly wrong if  we are budgeting taxpayer dollars for formula adjustments to protect government from the impact of an economic slowdown while Arizona families and business are having to tighten their belts to make ends meet.  We are on the brink of bankruptcy and are facing it head-on.  We  will not hear bells until the budget is resolved.  Arizonas have my commitment to doing what it takes to help our economy recover."
